About AFPHOTO files
The .afphoto file is a proprietary project document created by Affinity Photo (developed by Serif). Graphic designers and photographers use it to store multi-layered raster images, non-destructive adjustment layers, live filters, vector paths, and complete edit history. To natively open, view, or edit this file, you must use Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, or Affinity Publisher. More information on raster graphics editing can be found on Wikipedia. The .afphoto format is notoriously closed and highly specific. You cannot open it in standard web browsers, default operating system image viewers, or competing industry software like Adobe Photoshop. If you do not have the Affinity software suite installed, the file is essentially a locked box. Furthermore, because it stores raw, uncompressed image data and comprehensive undo histories, these files frequently exceed hundreds of megabytes, making them difficult to share via email or upload to web portals.
