About AFTEMPLATE files
An .aftemplate file is a proprietary design template created by the Affinity suite of creative software, developed by Serif. These files store pre-configured page layouts, vector graphics, raster layers, and text settings to be used as a starting point for new projects. The .aftemplate format is highly proprietary and closed. It cannot be opened by web browsers or standard image viewers. Because Serif uses a unified, undocumented file structure across Affinity Designer, Photo, and Publisher, standard online converters completely fail to process it. You are locked into their ecosystem, which forces collaborators to also own the software. Users typically need to convert these files to standard formats like PDF for sharing, SVG for vector editing in Adobe Illustrator, or PSD for raster workflows. Because it is a closed format, often only the original Affinity software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your AFTEMPLATE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert AFTEMPLATE file to INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10, PM11, OMP or P65, you can use Affinity Suite or similar software from the "Design Template Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The AFTEMPLATE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our AFTEMPLATE converter.
