About 3DSX files
A .3DSX file is a homebrew application executable designed for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console. Unlike official game cartridges or installed CIA files, a .3DSX file is a relocatable executable that typically runs via the Homebrew Launcher rather than the main system menu. This format is the standard for user-made games, emulators, and utility software within the 3DS modding scene.
A common problem for users is that .3DSX files cannot be "installed" permanently to the 3DS Home Menu like a standard app; they must be launched through a secondary loader every time. Additionally, they are completely unreadable on standard Windows or macOS systems without specific emulation software like Citra. Users often seek to convert these files to CIA (CTR Importable Archive) format to allow for direct installation to the console's NAND or SD card, providing a native "channel" experience. Conversely, developers compile source code into ELF before converting to .3DSX for testing. For archiving or PC-based usage, repackaging or emulation is the only viable path, as converting a compiled binary to a document or image format is technically impossible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your 3DSX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert 3DSX file to CIA, EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP or SAV, you can use Homebrew Launcher or similar software from the "Nintendo 3DS Homebrew Executable" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to 3DSX, try Homebrew Launcher or another comparable tool in the "Nintendo 3DS Homebrew Executable" category.
