About 002 files

The .002 file extension represents the second part of a split archive or split file. When users need to share a file that exceeds size limits, such as a 25MB email attachment limit or a 4GB FAT32 drive limit, archiving utilities divide the large file into smaller, numbered chunks like 001, .002, and 003. This extension is also occasionally used for specialized TIFF image segments generated by the legacy DACS Toolkit II. The primary disadvantage of a .002 file is that it is completely useless on its own. You cannot open, extract, or convert a .002 file without the base 001 file and all other parts of the sequence stored in the exact same directory. Furthermore, split archives are highly prone to corruption; if even one byte in the .002 file is damaged, the entire extracted file is often ruined. To solve this, you must merge the parts or extract the original contents. For general file extraction, combine the files to access the original documents and convert them to standard ZIP or 7Z for easier sharing. If you are dealing with the rare DACS Toolkit II image variant, convert the merged file to JPG for web use or .PDF/A for archiving.

Convert.Guru analyzes your 002 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted 001, 003, PQI, 000, 006, 004, ETL, SLM, FCS, AVI, JPG, BIN and UNKNOWN files.
