About XTP files
An .XTP file is most commonly an ID card design template created by HID Asure ID or Zebra XID Designer. It stores the visual layout, text fields, barcode configurations, and placeholder graphics for printing secure identification cards. Alternatively, an .XTP file acts as an AutoCAD Tool Palette Export or a saved custom xenotype in the game RimWorld. These secondary formats are essentially standard XML or UTF-8 text files holding configuration data. Some users may also encounter .XTP files as widget packages for XWidget, which are actually renamed ZIP archives. Users often need to convert .XTP ID card templates to standard formats like PDF or JPG to share designs for approval with clients who do not own expensive badge printing software. The main disadvantage of the .XTP format is its extreme fragmentation. A single file extension is used by entirely unrelated, highly proprietary systems. Viewing the layout or extracting CAD tool palette configurations without the original software is incredibly frustrating. Standard online converters almost always fail because they cannot guess which variant of the .XTP file you have uploaded. Because many .XTP files are closed binary formats or application-specific XML schemas, they are difficult to convert safely. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data.
