The .XRP file extension is primarily used for ReportPlus report package files created by Infragistics ReportPlus, or as compressed reports generated by Xactly Incent. In a smaller percentage of cases, it serves as a RationalPlan Project File developed by Stand By Soft. These files act as containers, holding project data, dashboards, and raw spreadsheet data for business intelligence or project management.
Opening these files usually requires an expensive, proprietary software subscription, which poses a major disadvantage. Without an active license for ReportPlus or RationalPlan, the files are locked, preventing stakeholders from viewing vital project metrics. Because .XRP is a closed ecosystem format, standard online converters fail to parse the proprietary data models inside.
The best way to bypass this limitation is converting the .XRP data to universally accessible formats. For project files, converting to MPP or XML is ideal for use in Microsoft Project. For report packages, users want to extract the underlying data to CSV, or export dashboards to PDF or JPG. However, direct conversion usually loses dynamic dashboard interactivity.
