Convert BQY to another file type
To convert BQY reports to another format, you need Oracle Hyperion or other Data software.
Convert a file to BQY
To convert other file formats to the "Interactive Reporting File" file type, you need software like Oracle Hyperion or a similar tool.
About BQY files
The .BQY file is a proprietary reporting document created by Brio Query, which later evolved into Oracle Hyperion Interactive Reporting. It stores business intelligence components, including database connection parameters, raw SQL queries, pivot tables, and visual report layouts.
Historically, data analysts used software like Oracle Hyperion or the legacy Brio Intelligence client to execute queries against corporate databases and view the results.
Users desperately need to convert .BQY files because Oracle officially discontinued the Hyperion Interactive Reporting suite. The software is practically obsolete, often requiring outdated operating systems to run properly. These files are closed, proprietary binaries. They lock your historical data inside an ecosystem that no longer exists.
If you still have access to the original software, the best conversion targets are XLSX or CSV for raw data extraction, and PDF for preserving the visual report layout.
Because the .BQY format is highly complex and completely undocumented, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original Oracle or Brio software can perfectly interpret the embedded database connections and rendering logic. Our system can inspect the raw file contents. If our analysis detects unencrypted SQL strings or embedded text metadata, we can help you extract the underlying query logic even without the legacy software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your BQY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert BQY file to TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD, LOCK or PID, you can use Oracle Hyperion or similar software from the "BI Reporting Query Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to BQY, try Oracle Hyperion or another comparable tool in the "BI Reporting Query Storage" category.
The BQY Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our BQY converter.
