About XLAM files

Myfile.xlam is a macro-enabled add-in used by Microsoft Excel to add custom commands, functions (UDFs), and specialized tools to the spreadsheet environment. Unlike standard workbooks, these files execute VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) code invisibly in the background. While powerful, this behavior is a major limitation: users cannot simply double-click an .XLAM file to view its contents or edit the data sheets within. Since the file is designed to be "hidden," extracting specific data or auditing the code requires developer-level knowledge or changing file properties within Excel's Visual Basic Editor. Additionally, because they contain executable macros, .XLAM files are frequently blocked by email providers and strict security policies to prevent malware distribution. To make the content accessible, editable, or safe for distribution, users should convert .XLAM to XLSM (to edit the sheets and macros), XLSX (to extract data while removing macros), or PDF (for static archiving).

Convert.Guru analyzes your XLAM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted XLA, JPG, XLSX, ASPX, TXT, CRDOWNLOAD, PMD, RPT, APK, SDOCX, XLS, XLSB and XLSM files.
