About XDF files

The .XDF extension represents three distinct file formats, each serving a completely different industry.

1. Apabi E-book (Most Common): Created by Founder Electronics, this is a legacy digital document format primarily used in Chinese libraries and archives. These files are often protected by DRM and require the outdated Apabi Reader to view. Because the software is difficult to run on modern operating systems (like Windows 11 or macOS) and lacks mobile support, users frequently need to convert these documents to PDF or EPUB for accessible reading on iPads, Kindles, and web browsers.

2. TunerPro Definition File (Automotive): In the world of ECU tuning, .XDF files act as "decoder rings" for car engine data. They contain XML-based definitions that map raw binary data (bolded .BIN files) to human-readable parameters like fuel injection tables, spark advance, and boost limits. Without the .XDF, a car's firmware file is just a stream of unintelligible hexadecimal code. Enthusiasts use TunerPro to edit these maps or convert the data tables to CSV or Excel for analysis.

3. Lab Streaming Layer (Scientific): Researchers use the Extensible Data Format (XDF) to record multi-modal time-series data, such as EEG brain signals and motion capture streams. These are complex binary files designed to synchronize data from different devices with sub-millisecond accuracy. To analyze this data in standard tools like MATLAB or Python, users must convert the .XDF streams into MAT, CSV, or BIDS formats.

Convert.Guru analyzes your XDF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DXF, PDF, XDFX, XFDF, XCF, XFD, XDW, ZIP, BIN, FDF, TXT, XAPK and JPG files.

The XDF Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our XDF converter.
