Convert a file to WK4
To convert other file formats to the "Lotus 1-2-3 Worksheet" file type, you need software like Lotus 1-2-3 or a similar tool.
About WK4 files
A .WK4 file is a legacy spreadsheet created by Lotus 1-2-3 (Release 4), a once-dominant business application developed by Lotus Software and later acquired by IBM.
Natively, these files require the original, discontinued Lotus 1-2-3 software. Today, open-source tools like LibreOffice Calc or Gnumeric are the best desktop options for opening them because modern Microsoft Excel removed native support for Lotus files over a decade ago.
The format is entirely obsolete and proprietary. Keeping data stored in .WK4 is a major liability because most modern devices, web browsers, and enterprise suites will reject it. You cannot view it on mobile devices, and sending it to colleagues will inevitably result in compatibility errors.
To rescue your legacy data, you must convert the .WK4 file. For editing in modern software, convert to XLSX or CSV (note that complex legacy macros will be lost). For archiving and visual preservation, convert to PDF. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.

The WK4 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WK4 converter.
