Convert a file to WGS
To convert other file formats to the "Surface Analysis Data" file type, you need software like Krüss ADVANCE or a similar tool.
About WGS files
The .WGS file extension typically refers to a Drop Shape Analysis data file generated by scientific instruments from KRÜSS GmbH. These files store complex measurement data regarding surface tension, contact angles, and interfacial rheology, commonly used in materials science and quality control labs.
Practical handling of Krüss .WGS files is often a headache for researchers because the format is proprietary. Opening them usually requires the expensive ADVANCE or legacy DSA software, which is often licensed to a single machine in a lab. If you need to analyze the data on a personal laptop or share results with a colleague who lacks the software, you are stuck. The best workaround is to convert the raw data tables within the file to CSV or XLSX (Excel) for universal accessibility, or print the graphical reports to PDF for archiving.
Secondary to scientific use, .WGS files may also be Workgroup Setup files created by the WildTools plugin for PowerCADD. PowerCADD is a Mac-exclusive 2D drafting tool popular among architects. These files manage workgroup preferences and drawing settings. A common difficulty arises when users migrate to Windows-based CAD systems like AutoCAD or need to share specifications with clients who cannot open Mac-specific formats. In these cases, converting the drawing data to DWG, DXF, or PDF is essential for interoperability.
Convert.Guru analyzes your WGS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert WGS file to UTM, PRS, ITM, DMS, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI or CFG, you can use Krüss ADVANCE or similar software from the "Scientific Measurement Data" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to WGS, try Krüss ADVANCE or another comparable tool in the "Scientific Measurement Data" category.
The WGS Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our WGS converter.
