About DMS files
A .dms file is most frequently a Misnamed Web Download occurring on macOS systems, specifically when using Apple Safari or Apple Mail. This happens when a web server fails to configure the MIME type correctly, causing the browser to save a known file (like a PDF, DMG, or ZIP) with the generic ".dms" extension. Users often face the frustration of downloading an essential document or installer only to find it unopenable. In these cases, the file is not corrupted; it is simply labeled incorrectly. The solution is often to determine the true file type (typically by checking the file header) and rename it to the correct extension, or use a tool to inspect and convert it. Less commonly, a .dms file represents an Amiga Disk Masher System file, a compressed disk image format used by the Commodore Amiga in the 1990s to archive floppy disks. These files are incompatible with modern operating systems and require emulation software like WinUAE or conversion to the standard ADF (Amiga Disk File) format for preservation. Rarely, it may be a Dream Maker Script used by the BYOND game development engine.
Convert.Guru analyzes your DMS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted DMS_, PDF, DSM, DMS, LETTERS FINAL, MESSENGER, SQUIRRELS HOLE IN ROOF, PIX_MOT, DCM, DMG, DOCX, XLSX and MWB files.
