About VSQX files

A .VSQX file is an XML-based vocal synthesis project file used by Yamaha's Vocaloid 3 and 4 editors. It contains musical notation, lyrics, phonetics, and complex vocal parameters like pitch bend and breathiness. To open and edit these files properly, you need the Vocaloid Editor or Piapro Studio. The main disadvantage of the .VSQX format is its heavily proprietary nature. It is not an audio file; it is just a set of instructions. You cannot play a .VSQX file without owning the expensive software and the specific commercial voice library (such as Hatsune Miku) required to sing the data. Most users need to convert this file to a standard MID (MIDI) file to edit the notes in a traditional DAW, or to UST or SVP to use the project in alternative, more accessible vocal synthesizers. Standard online audio converters fail completely with .VSQX because they lack the proprietary synthesis engine to render the voice into a WAV or MP3. This is a closed format that locks your data into the Yamaha ecosystem. However, since the format is structurally XML, just drag and drop your file to convert.guru to identify the format, view the raw underlying text, extract your lyrics, and convert the data when possible if a supported underlying format is detected.
