About VPP files
A .vpp file is the proprietary project format for Visual Paradigm, a comprehensive CASE tool used for UML, BPMN, and SysML modeling. These files encapsulate entire software design lifecycles, including entity-relationship diagrams (ERD), requirement specifications, and database schemas.
A key limitation of .vpp files is their proprietary lock-in. They are complex databases (often wrapping SQL or compressed data) that cannot be opened by standard image viewers, web browsers, or text editors. Sharing a raw .vpp file with stakeholders typically fails because they lack the specific, often paid, version of Visual Paradigm required to render the diagrams.
To share your work effectively, you must convert the project contents. For reviewing documentation and print, convert to PDF. For embedding diagrams into presentations or websites, convert individual views to PNG, JPG, or vector-based SVG. For migrating data to other modeling tools like Enterprise Architect or StarUML, converting to the XMI (XML Metadata Interchange) standard is the best practice for data preservation.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VPP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted BAK_000F, VPD, LCK, VPP_PC, PNG, JPG, BAK, TXT, PDF, UML, PUML, RESS and IPT files.
The VPP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VPP converter.
