Convert VPD to another file type
To convert VPD diagrams to another format, you need Visual Paradigm or other Data software.
Convert a file to VPD
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Diagram Project File" file type, you need software like Visual Paradigm or a similar tool.
About VPD files
A .VPD file is primarily a proprietary diagram project file created by Visual Paradigm. It is used by software engineers and business analysts to store Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, SysML models, and enterprise architecture blueprints. A secondary, but highly popular, use for the .VPD extension is in MikuMikuDance (MMD), where it functions as a Vocaloid 3D model pose data file.
The main disadvantage of .VPD files is their strict proprietary nature. You cannot open a Visual Paradigm .VPD file natively in web browsers, standard image viewers, or competing diagramming tools like Visio. This locks your project data into a specific, often expensive, software ecosystem, making it difficult to share architectural plans with non-technical stakeholders or clients who do not have a Visual Paradigm license. Similarly, MMD pose files only work within the MMD software and rely on specific 3D bone naming conventions.
To share diagrams for review, you should convert .VPD to PDF or PNG. For vector scaling without quality loss on the web, convert it to SVG. Drop your file here to view and convert it securely right in your browser.
Convert.Guru analyzes your VPD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert VPD file to PDF, JPG, PNG, VPP, VCD, VMD, OBJ, FBX, DAE, 3DS, MAX or BLEND, you can use Visual Paradigm or similar software from the "Diagram and Pose Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DWG, DAE, X3D, IGES, WRL, JT, SKP, 3DS, 3DM, OBJ, STEP or FBX files to VPD, try Visual Paradigm or another comparable tool in the "Diagram and Pose Data Storage" category.
The VPD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our VPD converter.
