Convert TX to another file type

To convert TX Files to another format, you need Autodesk Arnold or other Raster Image software.

Convert a file to TX

To convert other file formats to the "Tiled Mipmapped Texture" file type, you need software like Autodesk Arnold or a similar tool.

About TX files

The .tx file format is primarily a tiled, mipmapped texture file used in high-end 3D rendering. Based on the TIFF image standard (Wikipedia), these files store multiple resolutions of the same image. Software like Autodesk Arnold and Pixar's RenderMan use them to load only the necessary texture data into RAM during rendering. Another common use for the .tx extension is the Indian Income Tax return form, managed by the India Income Tax Department. Additionally, .tx can denote an AutoCAD runtime extension or a TX Text Control word processing template.

The main disadvantage of .tx texture files is their lack of compatibility. Standard image viewers and web browsers cannot open them. They are heavily optimized for 3D render engines, meaning they often exceed 100MB and are entirely locked into production pipelines. Indian Income Tax .tx files are closed, proprietary data containers that require specific, poorly optimized government utilities to open.

If you need to view or edit a 3D texture .tx file outside of a 3D pipeline, you must convert it to a standard image format like TIFF, EXR, or PNG. However, converting it means losing the tiled mipmap data, making it less efficient for rendering but readable by modern devices.

Many standard online converters fail to process .tx files because they do not understand the underlying OpenImageIO tiled structure or the proprietary data packing of tax forms. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format like TIFF or standard text, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your TX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TX_, TX3, PNG, TSX, PDF, HTML, JPG, TXT, TEXTURES, ZIP, TEXTURE, LXDS and AAE files.

FAQ

If you want to convert TX file to JPG, PDF, CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF or DAT, you can use Autodesk Arnold or similar software from the "3D Texture Optimization" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to TX, try Autodesk Arnold or another comparable tool in the "3D Texture Optimization" category.

The TX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TX converter.
