About TSV files

A .TSV (Tab-Separated Values) file is a plain text format where tabular data is separated by tab characters. It is primarily used to transfer large datasets between incompatible database systems, spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel, or e-commerce platforms like Google Merchant Center. Less frequently, the .TSV extension denotes a Transport Stream Video recording generated by ALi Corporation PVRs, TechnoTrend DVB software, or cached video streams from UC Browser for Android.

While .TSV files are lightweight and avoid the delimiter-collision issues common with comma-separated formats, they are heavily restricted. As raw text files, they do not support cell formatting, mathematical formulas, multiple sheets, or charts. Attempting to open massive 500MB database exports in standard text editors often results in frozen applications or crashed systems. Furthermore, if you are dealing with the video variant, default media players on Windows or Mac will often fail to recognize the format or lack the proper MPEG codecs required for playback.
