A .TPX file is most frequently a project created by the discontinued Ulead Photo Express, a consumer photo-editing and scrapbooking tool. These files are proprietary containers (often using the Microsoft Compound File format) that store image layers, text, clipart, and layout settings. Because Ulead was acquired by Corel and the software is no longer updated, users often find themselves locked out of their old digital memories. The format is not supported by modern web browsers or standard image viewers like Microsoft Photos, meaning you cannot simply double-click to view the content.
Adding to the frustration, the .TPX extension is a "collision" format used by over a dozen different applications. It might also be a digital takeoff file from Trimble eTakeoff (used in construction estimation), a drawing for the TpX LaTeX tool, or even a texture archive for the KiriKiri game engine. This ambiguity makes it critical to identify the source before attempting conversion.
For Ulead projects, the best conversion target is PDF to preserve the visual layout of the scrapbook page, or JPG/PNG if you simply want to extract the final flattened image for sharing on social media. For Trimble or engineering data, users usually need to convert to CSV or XML for interoperability, though this typically requires the original software environment.
