Extract text from Photo Express files (TPX)

The .TPX extension is heavily overloaded and lacks standardization. Historically, it is most associated with Ulead Photo Express as a proprietary project file based on the Microsoft Compound format. However, it is also frequently used for digital takeoff project exports in Trimble eTakeoff, template files in TurboPrint, automated test databases (JetDB) for TestStand, and compiled units in Borland Turbo Pascal. This extreme fragmentation creates severe disadvantages. A .TPX file relies heavily on dead or hyper-specific legacy software, cannot be opened natively by modern web browsers, and blocks universal sharing. If you have a Ulead project, it traps your layered image data; if it is a Trimble export, your construction measurements are locked into a closed ecosystem.
Converting .TPX files is highly dependent on the source application. Photo Express files should ideally be exported to JPG or PNG from within the original software to preserve the image visually. Trimble eTakeoff exports require conversion to PDF or CSV for client sharing. Because these are highly specific, closed, or proprietary formats, standard online image or document converters will simply fail to read them.
