About TP files
The .TP extension represents two distinct file types that often confuse users: FANUC Teach Pendant programs (Industrial) and HDTV Transport Streams (Video).
1. FANUC Robot Programs (Primary):
These are binary files created on a FANUC robot controller's Teach Pendant (TPE). They contain the compiled logic and motion instructions for industrial robots. The Problem: Because .TP files are compiled binary, they are unreadable in standard text editors like Notepad. Engineers often struggle to view or debug these files on a PC without proprietary software or an expensive "ASCII Upload" option installed on the physical robot controller. The Solution: To edit or archive these programs, they must be converted to LS (readable ASCII text) or PDF for documentation. This typically requires ROBOGUIDE or the WinOLPC utility.
2. HDTV Video Recordings:
Created by Beyond TV or older digital video recorders (DVRs), these are MPEG-2 Transport Streams. The Problem: These files are often large (exceeding 1GB), interlaced, and lack the compatibility to play on modern devices like iPhones or web browsers. They may fail to seek (fast forward) correctly in standard players. The Solution: For playback on any device, convert these videos to MP4 (H.264) using VLC media player or HandBrake.
Convert.Guru analyzes your TP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted TP0, LS, GOM, TS, PDF, SLDPRT, PNG, JPG, DAT, VRO, MPL, MVC and MP4 files.
The TP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our TP converter.
