Extract text from FANUC robot programs (LS)

The .ls file extension is notoriously fragmented, but it is primarily a FANUC Robotics controller program file. It stores human-readable robot programming code containing movement logic and coordinate data for industrial automation. Secondary uses include LSPDFR modification saves for the game Grand Theft Auto V, LightWave 3D LScript source code, and Impro-Visor musical leadsheets.
To view or edit the robotics files, engineers typically use FANUC RoboGuide or offline programming environments like RoboDK. For the GTA V mods, the underlying game engine LS3D handles the format natively.
The Problem: The .ls format is highly specialized and lacks universal standardization. If you receive a FANUC program, it is proprietary text that usually requires a heavy, expensive robotics IDE just to read properly with syntax highlighting. Conversely, game save files and encrypted data drops are completely locked to their host applications. You cannot preview these files natively in standard web browsers, and sending them to non-developers usually results in immediate confusion and access errors.
The Solution: For industrial programming or scripting, convert your .ls text to TXT or CSV. This allows engineers to review the code logic in Notepad++ or Microsoft Excel without buying proprietary licenses.
