About TP0 files

A .tp0 file is a raw video recording generated by Mascom Personal Video Recorders (PVR) and digital television decoders. It contains an intercepted DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) stream, typically wrapped in a standard MPEG Transport Stream (TS) container. To manage these files, users rely on legacy tools like MPEG Streamclip by Squared 5, which handles raw transport streams flawlessly.

The major disadvantage of the .tp0 format is its proprietary, fragmented structure. Because older PVRs format their internal drives with FAT32, continuous recordings are sliced into 4GB chunks, creating sequential .tp0, .tp1, and tp2 files. Modern media players and mobile devices rarely support this raw format natively. Furthermore, because it stores the direct broadcast data without additional compression, the files are exceptionally large.

To fix playback issues and eliminate the need for specialized software, you need to convert your .tp0 file. For universal web and mobile compatibility, convert to MP4 (using H.264 or H.265 codecs). For archiving the original broadcast with multiple audio tracks and subtitles intact, use the MKV format. Drag and drop your file to analyze and convert it - free, online, and without installing software.
