About T1 files

The .t1 extension is a technical homograph used in two completely different industries: medical imaging and digital typography.

1. GE Medical MRI Raw Data (Primary Use):
Most commonly, a .t1 file is a raw Magnetic Resonance Image generated by GE HealthCare scanners. These files specifically capture T1-weighted longitudinal relaxation data, which is critical for visualizing fat and water content in anatomical structures.

2. PostScript Type 1 Font (Legacy):
In the creative sector, .t1 files are legacy PostScript Type 1 font sources, historically associated with FontLab (formerly Fontographer) or specific Unix/Amiga typesetting systems.

3. Tekla Structures Log:
Less frequently, a .t1 file may be a plain text log generated by Tekla Structures for CNC machine operations.
