About ST1 files
The .st1 file extension is most commonly associated with save state files generated by the VisualBoyAdvance Game Boy Advance emulator. These files capture the exact RAM state, CPU registers, and memory data of an emulated game at a specific moment. Internally, these save states are often compressed using standard GZIP algorithms. Secondary uses for the .st1 extension include proprietary ticket templates for TicketCreator, Sankey diagram files for e!Sankey (which utilize a Microsoft Compound file architecture), and specific MySQL database backups generated by the MySqlBackup.NET library.
The main disadvantage of an .st1 emulator save state is its strict dependence on the exact emulator version and ROM. Unlike a standard in-game battery save (a sav file), it cannot be natively transferred to other emulators or actual hardware. Users often want to convert .st1 to sav to retain progress across different platforms, but direct conversion is complex because save states are raw memory dumps rather than structured save data. Similarly, .st1 ticket templates and diagrams are proprietary closed formats. They require a paid software license to open, and users typically need to export them to universal formats like PDF or JPG for printing or sharing.
Standard online converters routinely fail to process .st1 files because they lack the specific emulation engines or proprietary template parsers required to interpret the binary data. Even if full conversion is blocked by proprietary encoding or ROM dependencies, our tool can analyze the internal GZIP or Microsoft Compound structure to extract raw text, metadata, or embedded assets.
Convert.Guru analyzes your ST1 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert ST1 file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use VisualBoyAdvance or similar software from the "Emulator Save State File" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to ST1, try VisualBoyAdvance or another comparable tool in the "Emulator Save State File" category.
The ST1 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our ST1 converter.
