About CLT files
The .CLT extension serves two distinct but technical communities: retro gaming emulation and industrial manufacturing. Most commonly, it is a Cheat List file generated by the VisualBoyAdvance (VBA) emulator. These files store enabled GameShark or CodeBreaker codes for Game Boy Advance titles. While essential for gameplay, they are often proprietary binary or formatted text files that cannot be easily viewed or edited in standard text editors like Notepad. Users frequently need to convert these to plain TXT to share code lists on forums or print them as PDF reference guides without launching the emulator.
In an engineering context, a .CLT file represents Cutter Location data (often associated with APT or CLDATA standards). Used by high-end CAM software like PowerMill, this file defines the theoretical path of a CNC tool before it is translated into machine-specific instructions. The friction here is significant: a CLT file cannot run a CNC machine directly. It acts as an intermediate "middleman" file that requires Post-Processing to become usable G-Code (output.tap or nc). Engineers often need to convert this raw location data into human-readable PDF setup sheets or standard G-Code to verify toolpaths.
Convert.Guru analyzes your CLT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert CLT file to INDD, QXP, PUB, PMD, PM6, PM7, PM8, PM9, PM10, PM11, OMP or P65, you can use VisualBoyAdvance or similar software from the "Emulator Cheat List" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MDI, PUB, PDP, PM4, P65, COMIC, WEBTEMPLATE, PMD, SPUB, INDD, PM5 or QXP files to CLT, try VisualBoyAdvance or another comparable tool in the "Emulator Cheat List" category.
The CLT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our CLT converter.
