About CLT files

The .CLT file extension is most commonly associated with VisualBoyAdvance Cheat List files. These files store cheat codes (such as CodeBreaker or GameShark codes) used by the VisualBoyAdvance emulator to modify Game Boy Advance games. Another prevalent use is for CAM Cutter Location Data files, which contain toolpath coordinates for CNC machines managed by software like Autodesk PowerMill. Additionally, the extension is used for XML-based diagram layouts in ConceptDraw PRO and UTF-16 encoded game client data files.

The main disadvantage of .CLT files is their severe format fragmentation. Because the exact same extension is shared across emulator gaming, industrial CNC manufacturing, and enterprise architecture diagrams, operating systems frequently fail to open them correctly. Cheat files are often raw text, but they require the emulator to execute. CAM toolpath files are highly proprietary, demanding expensive CAD/CAM subscriptions to view or modify.

If you need to edit or share these files outside their native environments, conversion is critical. Cheat lists are best converted to TXT for simple editing. Diagram layouts should be exported to XML or PDF for sharing. CAM cutter files typically require post-processing into NC or GCODE using the original engineering software.

Converting .CLT files is difficult because standard online converters cannot predict which of the completely unrelated file structures is hidden inside the file. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Even if it is a proprietary format, our analysis detects supported underlying formats (like XML or plain text), allowing you to safely inspect the internal content.

Convert.Guru analyzes your CLT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted TXT, GBA, ST1 and GSV files.
