Convert SQD to another file type
To convert your SQD file to another format, you need Sequencher or other Data software.
Convert a file to SQD
To convert other file formats to the "Bioinformatics & Digital Notes" file type, you need software like Sequencher or a similar tool.
About SQD files
The .SQD extension primarily represents proprietary project files created by Sequencher (developed by Gene Codes Corporation) for DNA sequence assembly and analysis. These files encapsulate critical genomic data, contigs, and chromatograms. A major constraint is their proprietary nature; sharing raw .SQD files requires the recipient to possess a licensed copy of the software, creating significant collaboration friction. For archiving or publication, users typically need to convert these into open standards like FASTA or GenBank (.GB) formats, or flat PDF reports for visual inspection.
Alternatively, .SQD files are generated by the Squid (formerly Papyrus) note-taking application for Android. These files are actually ZIP-compressed containers storing vector-based handwriting and page metadata. Users often struggle to open these on desktop environments (Windows/macOS) since the format is mobile-native. To overcome this ecosystem lock-in, converting Squid notes to PDF or JPG is essential for printing, backing up, or viewing notes on larger screens.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SQD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SQD file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Sequencher or similar software from the "Bioinformatics Sequence Analysis" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to SQD, try Sequencher or another comparable tool in the "Bioinformatics Sequence Analysis" category.
The SQD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SQD converter.
