About SDX files

The .sdx extension is primarily associated with Satellite Receiver Channel Lists, serving as the configuration database for devices using NationalChip (Guoxin) chipsets, GTMEDIA receivers, and the legacy SatcoDX standard. These files store channel frequencies, transponder data, and satellite positions.

Since these formats are often proprietary or device-specific (ranging from raw binary to specific JSON structures), users face significant friction: standard text editors cannot display the data meaningfully, and files from one receiver brand (e.g., Viark) are incompatible with another. This "lock-in" makes organizing thousands of channels tedious using a remote control.

For effective management, users typically convert .sdx to XML, CSV, or standard JSON. This allows for editing channel orders in software like Excel or dedicated tools like SetEdit.

*Note: A minority of .sdx files may be Siemens SIMARIS design projects (ZIP-based) or Kivuto Secure Download Manager files, which require their respective proprietary software to open.*

Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your SDX file.

Users also converted CHL, SDX000000, BIN, DB, TXT, VSDX, RAR, SQLITE, XML, INI, POD, SDF and XLSX files.

The SDX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SDX converter.
