About SPX files

The .SPX extension serves two distinct but common purposes: macOS System Information reports and compressed Speex audio recordings.

1. macOS System Profiler Report (Majority Use)

Generated by Apple macOS, these files contain detailed XML data about a computer's hardware, software, and network configuration. While essential for troubleshooting, the raw .SPX format is difficult to read without a Mac, cannot be opened natively on Windows, and is not suitable for printing or inventory spreadsheets.
