About SHOW files
The .show file extension represents two completely different, highly specialized formats. In most cases, it is a presentation slideshow created by Hancom Office (formerly Thinkfree Office NEO), a widely used office suite in South Korea. In the live events industry, it functions as a complex lighting control database used by MA Lighting for their grandMA, grandMA2, and grandMA3 consoles to store DMX patches and fixture profiles. A small fraction of these files are also used by Pangolin Laser Systems for multimedia laser shows.
To open the presentation variant, you need Hancom Office Show. To load lighting data, you must use a physical MA Lighting console or their grandMA onPC software.
Users face significant frustration when dealing with .show files because they are entirely proprietary. If you send a Hancom .show presentation to a colleague, standard software like Microsoft PowerPoint will not natively open it, practically demanding a paid Hancom subscription to view. MA Lighting files are even more restrictive, operating as closed databases that are completely unreadable on standard PCs without specialized console software.
For Hancom presentations, the best conversion targets are PPTX or PDF to ensure cross-platform compatibility, though custom slide animations may break. Lighting show files cannot be directly converted to documents, though operators often export internal patch data to XML or CSV formats for administrative paperwork.
Because these file schemas are undocumented and proprietary, standard online converters usually fail. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the data. Because Hancom presentations use underlying ZIP compression and Pangolin files use GZIP, our analysis detects these embedded structures.
Convert.Guru analyzes your SHOW file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert SHOW file to PPT, MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, 3GP, OGV or ASF, you can use Hancom Office or similar software from the "Presentation & Lighting Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MTS, MOV, RMVB, DIVX, RM, H264, TS, WMV, VOB, MP4, XVID or AVI files to SHOW, try Hancom Office or another comparable tool in the "Presentation & Lighting Data Storage" category.
The SHOW Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our SHOW converter.
