About LYNX files

A .lynx file is a proprietary interactive lesson created with LYNX Whiteboard (formerly LYNX Cloud), the primary software for Clevertouch classroom displays. These files act as containers for a teacher's entire presentation, bundling vector slides, embedded YouTube videos, images, and handwriting annotations into a single package.

The biggest obstacle for .lynx files is their hardware-specific ecosystem. While excellent for the classroom, they are difficult to share with students or parents who do not have the specific LYNX player installed on their home devices. Furthermore, because they are proprietary to Clevertouch, opening them on competitor hardware like Promethean or SMART Board is impossible without first converting them. Users often encounter frustration when trying to email these files, as embedded media can inflate the file size significantly.

For practical access, the best conversion targets depend on your goal:

For Archiving/Sharing: Convert to PDF. This flattens the interactive elements into a static document that can be easily printed or viewed in any browser.
For Editing: Exporting to PPTX (PowerPoint) is ideal if you need to migrate the lesson to Microsoft Office, though some interactive triggers may break.
For Asset Recovery: Since the underlying format is ZIP-based, you can often rename the file extension from .lynx to zip to extract the raw images and videos without opening the whiteboard software.
