About RWF files
The .RWF file format serves multiple, highly specific purposes depending on the software that created it. Most commonly, it acts as a CAD reinforcement schedule file utilized by Nemetschek Allplan to store detailed structural engineering data. Alternatively, it functions as a raw waveform data file for acoustic measurement in Rational Acoustics Smaart, a network flow data file for CERT NetSA SiLK tools, or even a JSON-based workflow and watermark definition for NRCSof software.
Because the .RWF extension is fragmented across entirely different industries, it is a highly frustrating format for end-users to manage. These files are deeply proprietary. The Allplan variant requires a costly, specialized CAD suite just to read basic reinforcement schedules. Meanwhile, the Smaart waveform files contain uncompressed acoustic diagnostics that standard audio players like VLC cannot parse. This creates severe bottlenecks when attempting to share engineering specifications or audio measurements with clients or colleagues who do not own these expensive, specialized platforms.
Conversion targets depend heavily on the source of the file. CAD schedule variants should ideally be exported to PDF or CSV for accessible tabular viewing. Raw waveform files are better suited for conversion to WAV or TXT for external analysis. However, because these are closed, binary formats, standard online converters usually fail to process them and simply return errors.
This format is notoriously difficult to open or convert because often, only the original parent software can properly read the proprietary data structures and execute a clean export. Fortunately, convert.guru can help you bypass the guesswork. Just drag and drop your .RWF file into our tool to identify its true internal format. We will inspect the file to determine whether it is CAD data, a JSON workflow, or raw audio. If our analysis detects a supported underlying text structure or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RWF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RWF file to KSH or KES, you can use Nemetschek Allplan or similar software from the "Data and Waveform Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The RWF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RWF converter.
