About VLC files
The .vlc file extension is most commonly associated with VLC media player, an open-source framework developed by VideoLAN. It typically acts as either a partial media download file containing incomplete MP4 video data, an HTML video stream link, or a proprietary playlist. The biggest disadvantage of the .vlc format is its severe lack of universal compatibility.
