About ROFL files
A .ROFL file is a replay file created by League of Legends, a popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Riot Games. It stores match data, map coordinates, and player inputs instead of actual video footage. You can only open and view these files using the official League of Legends client. Users often want to convert .ROFL files to share their gameplay on social media or YouTube. However, standard video converters cannot process them because they lack actual video data. The format is also strictly locked to specific game patch versions. An older replay will fail to load on a newer version of the game. The best target formats for sharing gameplay are MP4 or WEBM. Because this is a closed, proprietary game data format, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible. To get a standard video file, the most realistic workaround is to play the .ROFL file in the game client and use the built-in recording tool to save highlights as WEBM, or record your screen using a tool like OBS Studio.
