About RMP files

The .rmp file extension most frequently identifies a RapidMiner Process file, the core save format for Altair RapidMiner. These files function as blueprints for data science workflows, containing XML-based instructions that define ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) operations, machine learning models, and operator connections. While powerful, the format is practically useless without the specific version of RapidMiner Studio installed, which can be a significant barrier if you simply need to audit logic, review parameter settings, or document a workflow without launching a heavy IDE. Furthermore, because the file is essentially structured XML, opening it in a standard text editor often results in a cluttered, unreadable mess of tags and attributes.

To bridge this gap, converting .rmp files is often necessary for interoperability and documentation. For developers needing to inspect the raw logic or migrate processes to other languages (like Python or R), converting the file to formatted XML or TXT makes the code human-readable. For archiving or sharing workflow designs with non-technical stakeholders, rendering the process metadata into a PDF or capturing the visual layout as a PNG is ideal. Be aware that .rmp is a collision-heavy extension; strictly distinct formats include RealPlayer metadata packages (obsolete streaming audio links) and Magellan raster maps, which are binary formats requiring completely different handling.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RMP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted RPM, MMAP, RPMSG, TSX, LSS, PM3 and DNL files.

The RMP Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RMP converter.
