Convert a file to RIP
To convert other file formats to the "Extracted 3D Game Mesh" file type, you need software like Ninja Ripper or a similar tool.
About RIP files
A .RIP file is primarily a captured 3D game mesh extracted by Ninja Ripper, a utility that intercepts geometry directly from a game's rendering pipeline. Modders use these files to rip character models and environments from compiled games. Some .RIP files also function as game data archives for Grand Theft Auto 3, disguised ZIP files, or Unity game engine save data. You can open .RIP 3D meshes using Autodesk 3ds Max or Blender via specialized import scripts. The primary disadvantage of the .RIP format is its raw, unstructured nature. It is not a standard 3D file but a raw dump of vertex and UV coordinates from GPU memory. This makes it impossible for standard web browsers or native OS viewers to open. Furthermore, extracted meshes often lose their skeletal rigging, animation data, and correct material assignments. To make the file usable, you must convert it to an industry-standard format like OBJ, FBX, or STL. Converting allows you to import the mesh into any modern 3D pipeline, though manual reconstruction of textures and scaling is often required. Because a .RIP file is essentially a highly specific memory dump, it is extremely difficult to open or convert without the exact plugin intended for that specific game engine and graphics API. Standard online converters almost always fail to process it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying structure, such as an embedded ZIP archive or standard executable data, viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RIP file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert RIP file to OBJ, MP3, WAV, AAC, FLAC, OGG, WMA, M4A, AIFF, OPUS, ALAC or APE, you can use Ninja Ripper or similar software from the "3D Game Mesh Extraction" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MIDI, AAC, TTA, AU, WV, DTS, MID, FLAC, RA, MP3, PCM or WAV files to RIP, try Ninja Ripper or another comparable tool in the "3D Game Mesh Extraction" category.
The RIP Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RIP converter.
