About PVL files
The .PVL file format primarily serves two completely different purposes: it is either a portable presentation exported by Prezi Classic or a ProjectViewList file used by PTC Creo View for 3D CAD data management. Prezi .PVL files are simply ZIP archives containing offline presentation assets, including images, videos, and layout data. PTC .PVL files act as indexes or viewable lists referencing external CAD models. Opening these files presents significant challenges. The Prezi format relies on legacy desktop software and cannot be viewed natively in standard web browsers, locking your presentation into an obsolete ecosystem. PTC files require expensive, proprietary enterprise software like PTC Creo. This creates a frustrating vendor lock-in where users cannot access their data without active subscriptions or legacy tools. For Prezi .PVL files, the best workaround is extracting the internal archive to recover media assets like JPG, PNG, or MP4 files. Standard document conversion to PDF or PPTX usually fails because the internal structure is highly proprietary. Because this file format is difficult to open or convert, often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, such as the standard ZIP container in a Prezi file, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PVL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PVL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PVL converter.
