The .PRW file extension is heavily fragmented and shared across multiple different industries. It is primarily used as an industrial SCADA HMI project file by AVEVA InTouch or Pro-face software. It is also actively used as a 3D CAD review file in Tetra4D Reviewer, a kitchen layout project in Compusoft Winner Design, and even as a protected notarial document format in Argentina.
Because multiple companies use the exact same extension, handling a .PRW file is frustrating. These files are highly proprietary. They contain complex data like interactive industrial graphics, 3D mesh data, or secure legal text. They require expensive, specific software licenses to open. You cannot view them natively in Windows, macOS, or any standard web browser.
Users typically need to convert .PRW files to standard formats so clients and vendors can actually see the designs or data. For 3D CAD or kitchen layouts, the best targets are PDF, STEP, or IGES.
