About PFD files
The .pfd extension is a fragmented format associated with multiple proprietary applications, most notably Pro/ENGINEER (now PTC Creo) for CAD data and Alzex Personal Finance for budget management. A significant portion of users also encounter this file as a simple typo for the ubiquitous PDF (Portable Document Format).
When valid, .pfd files are often locked within their specific ecosystem. Pro/ENGINEER files contain complex 3D engineering data that cannot be viewed in standard browsers or edited without an expensive license. Similarly, Alzex finance files hold critical personal banking data in a closed database structure. Micrografx Optima! process flow diagrams using this extension face obsolescence issues.
To make these files usable, specific conversion workflows are required. For Pro/ENGINEER data, converting to STEP or IGES allows for interoperability with other CAD tools, while converting to PDF serves as a lightweight viewing option. For Alzex users, exporting data to CSV or Microsoft Excel (XLSX) is essential for backing up financial records and analyzing expenses in standard spreadsheet software. If the file is a misnamed document, simply renaming the extension to pdf is often the immediate fix.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PFD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PDF, SFO, JPG, JPEG, PNG, DOCX, CRDOWNLOAD, PMD, DAT, BIN, IGX and IGJ files.
The PFD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PFD converter.
