About IGX files

The .IGX file extension is primarily a proprietary project file created by iGrafx, a suite of Business Process Analysis (BPA) software used for mapping Six Sigma workflows, value streams, and organizational charts. These files store vector graphics, simulation data, and swimlane structures in a Microsoft Compound Document format.

The Problem: Proprietary Lock-In

Unlike standard formats, .IGX files are strictly locked to the iGrafx ecosystem. They cannot be opened by Microsoft Visio, Lucidchart, or web browsers. This creates a significant bottleneck: stakeholders without a paid license cannot view, comment on, or edit the process maps, rendering the file useless for cross-team collaboration.

The Solution: Conversion Targets

Convert.Guru analyzes your IGX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted ZIP, PDF, SPV, RPT, RVT, SDOCX, PNG, QRP, CRYPT14, JPG, RPMSG, TSX and PFD files.

The IGX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our IGX converter.
