Convert PDATA to another file type
To convert PDATA Data files to another format, you need IDA Pro or other Developer software.
Convert a file to PDATA
To convert other file formats to the "Exception Handling Data" file type, you need software like IDA Pro or a similar tool.
About PDATA files
The .pdata file format is primarily used to store exception handling data within the Microsoft Portable Executable (PE) architecture. Alternatively, it serves as a legacy database file for Palm OS or stores player state information in games developed by Perfect World Entertainment.
Developers and reverse engineers typically rely on advanced disassemblers like IDA Pro to analyze these files. As a raw binary or proprietary database format, .pdata files are heavily restricted. They are entirely incompatible with web browsers and standard text editors. Attempting to open a .pdata file in Notepad will only display unreadable gibberish. Furthermore, because these files contain highly specific memory offsets and architecture-dependent data (such as ARM or x64 exception routines), extracting meaningful information requires specialized technical knowledge and dedicated software.
Converting .pdata files into standard document formats is usually impossible without data loss. However, you can extract the raw binary data or embedded strings into TXT for hex dumps, CSV for structured parsing, or BIN. Standard online converters consistently fail to process these files because they lack the ability to interpret proprietary system-level binary data. Our platform can safely inspect the internal content of your .pdata file and reveal hidden text or embedded data streams, providing a realistic workaround for an otherwise inaccessible format.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PDATA file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PDATA file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use IDA Pro or similar software from the "Exception Handling & Database Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to PDATA, try IDA Pro or another comparable tool in the "Exception Handling & Database Storage" category.
The PDATA Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PDATA converter.
