Because it supports no formatting - no bold, italics, images, hyperlinks, or page layouts - it is unsuitable for professional documents, reports, or printed materials. Opening these files across different operating systems can also trigger encoding errors (e.g., confusing Windows ANSI with UTF-8), resulting in garbled characters known as "mojibake."
To overcome these constraints, users should convert .text files to richer formats. For editing with layout and style options, convert to DOCX (Microsoft Word). For professional sharing and archiving that preserves appearance on any device, convert to PDF. For web publishing, convert to HTML.
