Extract text from data files (IDA)
To convert IDA files to another format, you need IDAutomation Barcode Label or other Data software.
To convert other file formats to the "Application Data File" file type, you need software like IDAutomation Barcode Label or a similar tool.
The .ida file extension is shared by several completely unrelated software systems. Most commonly, it is an IDAutomation Barcode Label Design file created by IDAutomation software. This format stores label layouts, barcode types, and text fields in an underlying XML structure. Another major use is as an Argentinian Direct Debit Data file processed by the Interbanking network for corporate payments. Less common uses include IDA Pro disassembler analysis databases by Hex-Rays, control system application files for Parker Hannifin IQAN, and decrypted iOS application archives.
The main disadvantage of .ida files is their severe lack of interoperability. They are highly specific, proprietary files. Opening an IDAutomation label requires purchasing specific label-design software. The Interbanking files are meant strictly for uploading to regional banking portals and are useless to standard desktop applications. Disassembler files are large, complex, and require an expensive IDA Pro license to access the reverse-engineered code inside.
Because many .ida files are text-based or standard archives in disguise, you can often extract their data. Barcode label designs can be converted to XML or TXT to extract the layout data. Bank files are typically plain text and can be processed into CSV for spreadsheet viewing. iOS archives are essentially ZIP files, allowing you to extract the raw app assets.
This file format is difficult to open or convert because it lacks a universal standard. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data.
