About PCL files

A .PCL file primarily contains Printer Command Language instructions. Created by Hewlett-Packard, this format acts as a direct line of communication between your computer and a printer. It stores all the layout, text, and graphics data exactly as they should appear on the physical page.

The main problem with .PCL files is that they are hardware instructions, not standard visual documents. You cannot open a .PCL file natively on Windows, macOS, or mobile devices. They are not supported by web browsers and often require paid software or clunky, outdated viewers to render on a screen. Additionally, depending on its source, a .PCL file might actually be a Pencil2D animation project, an Oracle database report, or a serialized Python data object.
