About PCLX files
A .PCLX file is the native project archive for Pencil2D, an open-source tool for traditional 2D hand-drawn animation. Unlike a finished video file, a .PCLX is a container - specifically a renamed ZIP archive - that holds the raw ingredients of your animation: the main.xml timeline data, a specific palette, sound tracks, and a data folder filled with PNG images and VEC vector drawings for every keyframe. Because it is a working project file, it cannot be uploaded to YouTube, played in VLC Media Player, or viewed on mobile devices. Users frequently experience issues when trying to share their work, realizing too late that .PCLX is strictly for editing, not playback. To distribute the animation, the project must be exported or converted. For video platforms, the standard target is MP4 or WebM. For simple loops on social media, convert to GIF. If you need to access the individual drawings without installing the software, you can simply rename the file extension from .pclx to zip and extract the contents to find the image sequences.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PCLX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted PCL, PPTX, SPL, MNG and DWA files.

The PCLX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PCLX converter.
