About NRC files
The .nrc file is a Nero Disc Compilation File used primarily by Nero Burning ROM and Nero Express. It serves as a blueprint that stores the folder layout, burning settings, and file paths required to create a CD, DVD, or Blu-ray disc. This format has severe real-world disadvantages. It is completely proprietary and locks users into a paid, Windows-only ecosystem. Most critically, an .nrc file does not contain any actual media data. It only holds text references to where your source files are located on your hard drive. Users frequently mistake these tiny files for full backups, which leads to permanent data loss if the original files are moved or deleted. Standard online converters fail to process this format because they look for audio, video, or archive data streams that simply do not exist within the file. You cannot convert an .nrc file into an ISO, MP4, or ZIP without access to both the original source files and the Nero software. We recommend converting .nrc to TXT, XML, or HTML. Doing so allows you to extract and read the internal file paths, which helps you identify which files were originally scheduled to be burned, even if the media data itself is lost. This file format is difficult to open or convert precisely because it relies on external dependencies. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NRC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NRC file to STC, DB, ISO, IMG, DMG, VHD, VMDK, VDI, HDD, QCOW, QCOW2 or RAW, you can use Nero Burning ROM or similar software from the "Disc Compilation Layout Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The NRC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NRC converter.
