About NFC files
The .nfc extension is shared by three distinct file types, causing significant confusion for users.
- Flipper Zero NFC Data: The most common modern use is by the Flipper Zero portable multi-tool. These are human-readable text files that store data from RFID/NFC cards (like Mifare Classic, NTAG215, or Ultralight). They contain keys like
UID, ATQA, and SAK, along with hex-encoded data blocks. Users often need to convert these to JSON for use with Proxmark3 hardware, or to BIN for Amiibo emulation. Since they are plain text, they can also be edited in Notepad, but incorrect formatting will break the file. - Nokia Phone Backup: A legacy binary format created by the "Content Copier" tool in older versions of Nokia PC Suite. These files contain contacts, SMS, and calendar entries from old Nokia phones (e.g., Nokia 6300). They are proprietary and binary, meaning you cannot open them in a text editor. Users typically need to extract data to VCF (vCard) or CSV for use on modern smartphones.
- Neko Catcher / Cache Files: The Neko Catcher download manager uses .nfc as a temporary or cache extension for video downloads. These are often standard MP4 video files in disguise. Similarly, Tencent QQBrowser and NetEase MuMu use this extension for cached JPG images or ZIP archives. These files generally do not need conversion software - simply renaming the extension often works.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NFC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted BIN, DUMP, NEF, NCF, ZIP, TXT, JPG, PDF, JPEG, MP4, ENC and UWL files.
The NFC Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NFC converter.
