Convert a file to NCF
To convert other file formats to the "Configuration Data File" file type, you need software like Agilent NovoExpress or a similar tool.
About NCF files
The .NCF file extension is heavily fragmented and used for entirely different purposes depending on the software environment. The most common use is as a Fire Alarm Network Configuration file created by Advanced Fire Systems. Another major application is as a Flow Cytometry Experiment Data file generated by laboratory software like Agilent NovoExpress. Historically, it was also widely known as a Steam Game Cache file used by the Valve Steam platform to store unencrypted game data. Alternatively, it serves as a NetCDF air quality modeling dataset or a CNC machine G-code program for GibbsCAM.
The main disadvantage of the .NCF format is its proprietary, fragmented nature. Most of these files are locked into specific software ecosystems. Fire configurations require proprietary panel programming tools. Flow cytometry files require expensive laboratory software licenses to view. Steam cache files are practically useless outside of the legacy Steam client or specific community extractors.
Target formats heavily depend on the file's internal structure. A fire alarm .NCF is typically a standard ZIP archive; simply renaming the extension to ZIP allows you to extract the XML configuration files inside. A flow cytometry .NCF is structurally an SQLITE database, which can be queried using standard database tools to export tabular data to CSV. CNC machine code can be opened in a text editor and saved as TXT or NC.
Because .NCF files lack a universal standard, ordinary online converters will fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the complex data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying format - like an embedded ZIP archive, SQLite database, or plain text code - viewing or extraction may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NCF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NCF file to EXE, ISO, BIN, CUE, PAK, WAD, PK3, PK4, BSP, MAP, SAV or DAT, you can use Agilent NovoExpress or similar software from the "Network Configuration & Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert MOD, BIN, CFG, SCX, DAT, MPQ, LOG, CUE, INI, EXE, SCM or ISO files to NCF, try Agilent NovoExpress or another comparable tool in the "Network Configuration & Data Storage" category.
The NCF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NCF converter.
