About NCL files
An .NCL file is primarily a Jacquard loom design file developed for NedGraphics textile CAD software. These files store precise weave structures, color palettes, and machine instructions required to manufacture complex woven fabrics on computer-controlled Jacquard looms. A smaller percentage of .NCL files are plain text scripts used by NirSoft NirCmd, a small command-line utility for automating Windows tasks. For textile professionals, the .NCL format presents a severe lock-in problem. It is a highly proprietary, closed-source format that requires expensive, specialized software like NedGraphics Vision Jacquard to open, edit, or export. Without a costly license, factory managers or freelance designers cannot preview the weave patterns, check thread counts, or view the design layout. Furthermore, these files are completely unrecognized by standard image viewers, web browsers, or general-purpose CAD software like AutoCAD. To share these designs with clients or standard manufacturing facilities, users must convert .NCL files to standard formats. Exporting to PNG, TIFF, or JPG allows for visual proofing, though all machine-level weave data is lost. For cross-compatibility with other electronic looms, converting to standard industrial formats like .JC5 (Stäubli) or EP (Bonas) is necessary. For NirCmd users, converting an .NCL script to a standard TXT or BAT file makes it readable in any text editor like Notepad++. Because NedGraphics files contain compiled, machine-specific manufacturing data rather than standard pixel or vector information, standard online converters fail to process them. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the complex weave data. However, you can use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, inspect the file, and show text or internal content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your NCL file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert NCL file to EXE, MSI, APP, DMG, DEB, RPM, PKG, RUN, SH, BAT, CMD or COM, you can use NedGraphics or similar software from the "Textile Loom Design" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert JAR, APP, SCR, IPA, COM, AAB, PS1, DMG, VBS, EXE, XAPK or MSI files to NCL, try NedGraphics or another comparable tool in the "Textile Loom Design" category.
The NCL Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NCL converter.
