About MRIMG files
The .MRIMG file is a proprietary disk image format generated by Macrium Reflect. It serves as a bit-by-bit snapshot of a hard drive or partition, capturing everything from the operating system and boot sectors to individual user documents. While this is excellent for disaster recovery, the format can be a major source of frustration for accessibility. .MRIMG files are often massive - frequently exceeding 100GB - and are completely opaque without the specific Macrium interface.
Users typically look to convert these files to escape the proprietary lock-in or to virtualize an old physical machine. For virtualization in environments like Hyper-V or VirtualBox, the ideal target format is VHD or VHDX. If you simply need to retrieve a specific spreadsheet or photo from the backup, converting the entire image is often overkill; instead, the file usually needs to be "mounted" as a virtual drive to extract specific contents. For long-term archiving where vendor independence is required, converting to a raw disk image (like IMG) or a standardized virtual disk format is recommended to ensure data remains accessible even if the original software becomes obsolete.
Convert.Guru analyzes your MRIMG file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert MRIMG file to IMG, VHD, VMDK, WIN, VDI, ISO, DMG, HDD, QCOW, QCOW2, RAW or VBOX, you can use Macrium Reflect or similar software from the "System Backup & Recovery" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The MRIMG Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MRIMG converter.
