Convert LRCAT to another file type
To convert LRCAT catalogs to another format, you need Adobe Lightroom Classic or other Database software.
Convert a file to LRCAT
To convert other file formats to the "SQLite Database" file type, you need software like Adobe Lightroom Classic or a similar tool.
About LRCAT files
The .lrcat file is fundamentally an SQLite database utilized by Adobe Lightroom Classic to record photo metadata, organizational tags, and non-destructive editing parameters. It acts as the central brain of a photographer's workflow, tracking where images are stored on the hard drive and what adjustments have been applied to them.
The format presents severe limitations for average users. First, it is a frequent source of disastrous data loss: users mistakenly believe an .lrcat file contains their actual photos and only backup this file, resulting in completely lost image archives. Second, accessing the file natively requires an expensive, recurring Adobe subscription. Finally, the internal database schema is proprietary, meaning when a newer version of Lightroom upgrades the catalog, older versions can no longer read it.
Because this is a specialized database rather than a document or image, standard online converters fail completely to process it. You cannot convert an .lrcat directly into JPG or PDF because the images are not inside the file. To migrate your work to competitors like Capture One, you must rely on specialized importer tools. Our engine can bypass Adobe's restrictions, identify the underlying SQLite structure, and allow you to extract the raw metadata tables into CSV or SQL formats so you can recover your textual data.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LRCAT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LRCAT file to DB, SQLITE, SQLITE3, MDB, ACCDB, DBF, ODB, FDB, GDB, MYD, FRM or SQL, you can use Adobe Lightroom Classic or similar software from the "Photo Catalog Database" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert NDF, SQLITE3, BAK, RDB, SQL, DB4, MDF, MDB, LDF, DB, DB3 or SQLITE files to LRCAT, try Adobe Lightroom Classic or another comparable tool in the "Photo Catalog Database" category.
The LRCAT Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LRCAT converter.
