Extract text from LDW files

To convert other file formats to the "Saved Game / CAD Design" file type, you need software like Virtual Villagers or a similar tool.
The .LDW extension refers to two distinct file formats that often cause confusion. The most common (approx. 70%) is a saved game state file generated by titles from LDW Software, specifically the popular Virtual Villagers series. These files are proprietary binary containers (Virtual Villagers.ldw) storing your tribe's progress, tech points, and population data. They are strictly designed for the game engine and cannot be "opened" or converted into readable text or images without specialized save editors. Users often try to convert them hoping to recover lost progress or modify stats, but standard converters will fail.
The second, more conversion-relevant format (approx. 19%) is a furniture design drawing created by Bazis-Center software, such as Bazis-Mebel. These are CAD files used in the manufacturing of cabinet furniture. The major issue here is proprietary lock-in: sending an .LDW file to a client or contractor who doesn't own the specific Russian CAD suite renders the file useless. For these users, the practical solution is converting the vector geometry to widely accessible formats. For reviewing designs, convert to PDF. For exchanging technical data with other CAD systems (like AutoCAD), the target format should be DXF or DWG, though direct conversion often requires the original hosting software to export the data first.
